    Arts Notes: Oct. 19

    The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield is staging “It Came from a Book,” an art contest for teens. The contest welcomes original works of art inspired by a book. Teens may submit works in a variety of media, including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and manga.

    Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Bethesda Baptist Church, 4067 U.S. 70 Business West between Clayton and Smithfield. The event will feature candy, inflatables, popcorn, door prizes and a hayride.
