An 86-year-old woman died Wednesday after a single-car accident in Clayton.

Ruby Lee Walters, 86, of 303 Dairy Road, Clayton, was the passenger in a car driven by Sandra Lee Culhane, 67, also of 303 Dairy Road.

Clayton police said Culhane did not stop at a stop sign at about 7 a.m. Her car hit a drainage ditch at the intersection of Dairy and Barber Mill roads.

Both women were taken to WakeMed, where Walters died.
