Children ages 11-13 can learn to be safe and responsible babysitters through SafeSitter class scheduled this summer at the Johnston Medical Mall in Smithfield. In addition to basic child care, they’ll learn basic lifesaving techniques, how to prevent accidents, and how and when to call for help. Harambee Summer Camp for children ages 5-17 is under way at the Family Life Center, 909 E. Lee St., Smithfield. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through July 28, and the cost is $30 a week. Topics include drama and dance, etiquette and manners, career choices, and African and African-American art and culture. The camp will serve breakfast, lunch and snacks daily.
The Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center invites children ages 5-12 to its weekly summer camp, which will offer art, swimming, sports and outdoor fun.
