Summer’s coming

A Summer’s Coming Celebration is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. The celebration is designed especially for people who are new to the community or to the church.

Starting June 1, Christ Community will launch its summer schedule. That’s coffee, juice, fruit and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m. and then a potluck lunch and information about upcoming activities.

Community Day

Community Day is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Friendly Chapel Church, 11455 N.C. 50, Benson. The event will offer free food, blood-pressure checks and information from private and government agencies on such topics as education, recreation, safety and health.

Gospel music

The King’s Messengers and Legacy will sing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Everett Chapel Church, 307 Everett Ave., Clayton. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the quartets. A hot dog supper is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Eric and Laura Ollis will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group. For more information, call the Rev. Jessie Brock at 919-894-1418.

Heaven’s Way will sing at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church, 8715 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks. Admission is free. The church will hold a silent cake auction, with proceeds going to the ninth annual Vision Walk in honor of Jaylen Stanley, the 8-year-old son of Kelley and Eric Stanley.
