Parents share much of blame for schools that fail
The recent story and editorial about school performance have been interesting. Educators who have not retired yet are usually shy about commenting because they do not want to anger the administrators. I am retired. If the truth makes you uncomfortable, you might want to turn the page and read about sports or fashion.
The truth is not complicated, but it seems so taboo. Far too many times, here is what you have at school: People who do not value decorum, their own health, relationships, etc., raise the kid in question. If the school is able to get that parent to a meeting, they instantly see that too. If the school was allowed to go out and look for the parent, there is a good chance the parent would be found near or in the courthouse.
