A pancake breakfast is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Applebee’s, 5158 N.C. 42 in the Cleveland community. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-10. Children 3 and younger eat for free. Proceeds will go to Good Samaritan United Church of Christ. To purchase tickets, call 919-628-9320.

Elizabeth United Methodist Church near Smithfield is seeking vendors for its Bingo and Bazaar event on Saturday, May 3. Spaces are $25. To reserve a spot, email Holly Lucas at or call her at 919-300-1552. The rain date is May 10.

Community outreach

Red Hill United Church of Christ will serve free food and fellowship at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the church, 10142 Buffalo Road, Clayton.

Programs, services

A Women’s Day service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at Mount Vernon Christian Church, 301 N. Lombard St., Clayton. Clayton Valerie Lassiter will speak. She is chief executive of Lassiter & Associates, a fundraising management and consulting firm.

The Rev. Derrick A. Justice of Clayton is celebrating his seventh anniversary as pastor of Lillington Star Free Will Baptist Church. A service in his honor is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at the church, 183 Bailey Way Road, Lillington.

Lifeline Fellowship Church has started weekly services in the McGee’s Crossroads community. They’re at 6 p.m. Saturdays at the Rehobeth Community Building, 9856 N.C. 210. For more information, visit

Golf tournament

A golf tournament to benefit Baker’s Chapel Ministries will tee off at 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Cardinal Country Club, 363 Parrish Memorial Road, Selma. Registration will begin at noon; a reception will follow the completion of play. For more information, call Elaine Mozingo at 919-989-7615.
