Easter

A community Easter egg hunt is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteville St., Clayton. For more information, call 919-553-4161.

Rocky Hock Playhouse will present “God So Loved,” an Easter drama, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road near Wilson’s Mills. Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for adults 62 and older, $12 for children 12 and younger and $15 for groups of 10 or more. For tickets, call 252-482-4621.

An Easter celebration is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Archer Lodge Community Center and White Oak Baptist Church. Through April 9, midweek Lenten services are at noon Wednesdays in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of South Third and Church streets in Smithfield.

Bethesda Baptist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at Wilson Farm, 5494 Wilson’s Mills Road near Wilson’s Mills.

Community outreach

Red Hill United Church of Christ will serve free food and fellowship at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the church, 10142 Buffalo Road, Clayton.

Christ Community United Methodist Church will give away food from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at the church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. Recipients must have their ID card with them.

Fundraisers

Plates of barbecued chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Selma Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church at the corner of West Elizabeth and Graves streets. Plates are $7, with takeout available.

Plates of fried fish and grilled chicken will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Mt. Vernon Christian Church, 301 N. Lombard St., Clayton. For $7, choose fried trout or grilled chicken with potatoes, coleslaw, string beans, bread and dessert. Combination plates are $10, or get a sandwich for $3. Takeout will be available. A yard sale with refreshments is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 5755 Rains Crossroads Road, Princeton.

Elizabeth United Methodist Church near Smithfield is seeking vendors for its Bingo and Bazaar event on Saturday, May 3. Spaces are $25. To reserve a spot, email Holly Lucas at lucas3innc@nc.rr.com or call her at 919-300-1552. The rain date is May 10.

Gospel music

Church launching preschool

This fall, Bethesda Baptist Church near Clayton will open WEE Ones, a preschool for children from age 2 to pre-kindergarten. WEE is short for Weekday Early Education. For young people

A talent show for young people ages 12-18 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Wilson’s Mills Elementary School, 4654 Wilson’s Mills Road, Wilson’s Mills. First Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson’s Mills asks attendees to bring a donation of canned goods.

A youth choir workshop is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church, 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks. A performance will follow at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13. The workshop cost is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The church will serve lunch. For more information, call 919-585-6132.

Programs, services

A three-day lecture series on global missions will meet at 7 p.m. April 21-23 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 403 E. Caswell St., Smithfield. Guest lecturers will talk about preparing congregations for mission trips.

Good Samaritan United Church of Christ has begun meeting at Kid’s Clubhouse, 72 Coats Commercial Drive in the Cleveland community. Golf tournament
