Easter

Rocky Hock Playhouse will present “God So Loved,” an Easter drama, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road near Wilson’s Mills. Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for adults 62 and older, $12 for children 12 and younger, and $15 for groups of 10 or more. For tickets, call 252-482-4621.

An Easter celebration is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Archer Lodge Community Center and White Oak Baptist Church. Through April 9, midweek Lenten services are scheduled for noon Wednesdays in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church at the corner of South Third and Church streets in Smithfield.

Bethesda Baptist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, at Wilson Farm, 5494 Wilson’s Mills Road near Wilson’s Mills.

Fundraisers

Plates of barbecued pork will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the parking area at Affordable Auto Repair at the corner of Lee Court and N.C. 42 West in Clayton. The cost is $7 per plate and includes barbecue, slaw, green beans, roll and dessert. Proceeds will go to Grace Episcopal Mission. For advance orders, call 991-553-2810.

Bingo play with dinner will get under way at 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Johnston Memorial Church, 8280 N.C. 50 in the McGee’s Crossroads community. For adults, the cost is $15 for a hot dog supper and two bingo cards. Children ages 6-11 can play for $10. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 919-894-3688.

A fish fry is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 4057 U.C. 70 Business West between Smithfield and Clayton. The cost is $8 and includes fried fish, boiled potatoes, hush puppies, coleslaw, dessert and drink.

Elizabeth United Methodist Church near Smithfield is seeking vendors for its Bingo and Bazaar event on Saturday, May 3. Spaces are $25. To reserve a spot, email Holly Lucas at lucas3innc@nc.rr.com or call her 919-300-1552. The rain date is May 10.

Gospel music

Programs, services

Good Samaritan United Church of Christ has begun meeting at Kid’s Clubhouse, 72 Coats Commercial Drive in the Cleveland community. Joyful Noise, a service for families with young children, meets at 9 a.m. A fellowship hour follows. A traditional worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call the Rev. Church launching preschool

This fall, Bethesda Baptist Church near Clayton will open WEE Ones, a preschool for children from age 2 to pre-kindergarten. WEE is short for Weekday Early Education. For young people

A youth choir workshop is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church, 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks. Golf tournament
