Hobbs twins play in USTA Southern Championships

Clayton twins Jefferson and Jillian Hobbs played in the Icy Hot USTA Southern Level 2 Championships in Macon, Ga. earlier this month. Jillian, playing doubles with Emma Navarro, advanced to the doubles semifinals before bowing out. Jefferson Hobbs went 1-2 in singles play during the tournament.

Bond is Big Ten freshman of the week

Clayton graduate Nicole Bond was named the Big Ten freshman of the week in softball for March 10. Bond tossed a two-hit shutout in a 5-0 victory over Western Michigan on March 8 as part of the USF Under Armour Showcase in Florida. She threw just 77 pitches in the contest.

Bond has made three appearances and two starts for the Wildcats who are 15-5 and started Big Ten Conference play against Wisconsin this weekend.
