Math competition names winners

The annual MATHCOUNTS competition in Johnston County has crowned this year’s winners. They are listed below by division.

Overall individual winners – first place, Philip Hunt, Cleveland Middle School; second place, Dylan Reggling, Cleveland Middle; third place, Sarah Volcjak, Cleveland Middle; and fourth place, Tanner Clary, McGee’s Crossroads Middle School.

Countdown winners – first place, Tanner Clary and Ethan DeSmet, both of McGee’s Crossroads Middle; second place, Dylan Reggling, Cleveland Middle; and third place, Philip Hunt, Cleveland Middle.

Team winners – first place, Cleveland Middle, with team members Philip Hunt, Samareth Patel, Dylan Reggling and Sarah Volcjak and coach Jill Helms; second place, Riverwood Middle, with team members Nick Drda, Kimberly Evans, Rose Hein and Geraint Jennens-Cheong and coaches Amanda Pierce and Lindsey Powell; and third place, Selma Middle, with team members Chris Adams, Haley Evans, Carolyn Fields and Gabriela Tolosa-Ramirez and coaches Tracy Britto and Kelly McQuiston.
