Parks Dept. receives $560 donation

The Clayton Parks & Recreation Department has received more than $560 in money and equipment from Clayton Tire & Muffler Center and Michelin through the Michelin Soccer Program.

This community program partners Michelin tire dealers with local soccer organizations nationwide. The dealers purchase customized soccer balls which are redeemed with certificates sent to the soccer organization. For every MICHELIN® tire sold to the general public at Clayton Tire & Muffler Center during the 30-day soccer ball giveaway, $2 is donated back to the soccer organization. The donations are used to provide scholarships, uniforms and other equipment for the soccer leagues.

“Whether you have done this program for one year or more than 13, you’re going to have a blast,” said Starr Hardee with Clayton Tire & Muffler Center. “Kids love it, parents love it, and all of us at the dealership really enjoy being able to interact with the soccer community. There’s nothing better than seeing the direct positive impact it has on everyone involved.”

Vinyasa Flow Yoga begins in January

New sessions of Vinyasa Flow Yoga will begin in January. This yoga style focuses on linking the breath with movement and is often referred to as a moving meditation. The poses flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath. Vinyasa Flow cultivates strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, focus, and serenity. Sessions are available from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesdays (beginning Jan. 8) or Friday (beginning Jan. 10) and from 10:15 until 11:15 a.m. on Saturdays (beginning Jan. 11). Each session runs six weeks. The cost is $20 for Clayton residents, $35 for others. Participants should bring their own mat.
