Readers write: A scavenger hunt worth the prize

A family thanks its doctor

Mahatma Gandhi said, “The greatness of a nation and its progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, our other “family doctor,” Dr. Mike Bagley, owner of Clayton Animal Hospital, demonstrated the above by holding an open house so visitors could tour the expansion of his facility.

As we joined scores and scores of other guests, animals included, one would have thought we were visiting a new state-of-the-art medical facility at one of the finest universities.

The event started with a scavenger hunt taking us to no fewer than 14 medical stations that included lab, ophthalmology, endoscopy, acupuncture, laser therapy, radiology, surgery, ultrasonography and dental care, with the prize being a Clayton Animal Hospital T-shirt.

Most noteworthy during our visit was the passion and enthusiasm of the young staff, many of whom Dr. Bagley hires post-high school and trains as veterinarian assistants. On behalf of our four-legged children, Circe and Rachel, we say thank you, Dr. Mike and staff, for the wonderful, tender-loving care you provide to us.
