Holiday Mail for Heroes

OneMain Financial, a loan company in Selma, is taking part in Holiday Mail for Heroes, a program of the American Red Cross. Through Nov. 30, One Main invites Johnston County residents to stop by and sign a holiday card. The Red Cross will distribute them to U.S. military personnel. The OneMain office is at 1405 S. First Citizens reports higher earnings

First Citizens BancShares Inc. has reported third quarter earnings of $41 million, up from $39.5 million in the same quarter a year ago. The increase reflects lower provisions for loan and lease losses, partially offset by lower net interest income.

Per share income for the third quarter of 2013 totaled $4.26, compared to $3.85 for the same period a year ago.
