Agribusiness banquet

The Johnston County Agribusiness Council will hold its annual banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Johnston County Agricultural Center, 2736 N.C. 210, Smithfield. Bill Collins will speak. He is co-author of a book on flue-cured tobacco production. During his career, Collins has visited tobacco-growing areas in 44 countries. His book has been published in five languages. The banquet is $10, and membership dues are $10. To register for the banquet, call 919-989-5380 no later than Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Youth Livestock meal

The 2013 Youth Livestock Festival meal is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the Johnston County Livestock Arena, 520 County Home Road, Smithfield. The buffet meal will offer barbecued pork, barbecued beef, chicken pastry, chitterlings, baked sweet potatoes, hush puppies, collards and more. Takeout will be available. Tickets at the door are $12.
