Corinth Holders at North Johnston
Corinth Holders had one of its best outings in school history in last years regular-season finale against the Panthers, a 48-14 win. That victory helped get the Pirates into the playoffs for the first time.
The Panthers will certainly remember that loss and would love to get a big rivalry win as they continue to prep for Eastern Plains 2A Conference play in a few weeks.
Notable: The series is tied at 1 with both teams recording lopsided wins. North beat the Pirates, 58-6, in 2011.
Clayton at South Johnston
Clayton continues its tour of Johnston County rivals with a visit to South Johnston. Its the Comets third game against a county rival in a string of four to start the season.
South Johnston finds itself in the friendly confines of Roland Avery Stadium for the only time in the first four weeks of the season.
Record: Last years 41-14 Clayton win broke a string of six close games in the series with each of those half-dozen contests being decided by 10 points or less.
Cleveland at West Johnston
West Johnstons offense looks like it could be more productive than most observers anticipated before the season started. The Wildcats have thrived on turning turnovers into points so far.
Cleveland rode its defensive play to a huge win last year before a monstrous home crowd.
