Clayton Animal Hospital held a month-long rabies clinic in June, offering $6 rabies vaccines with proceeds going to the Johnston County Animal Protection League. The fundraiser set a record.
The animal hospital vaccinated 783 cats and dogs during the month and raised $4,698 for the nonprofit. A similar clinic in January raised $3,426.
Practice owner Dr. Mike Bagley called the results “amazing and outstanding considering there have been at least five rabies clinics around the county in the past six months.”
The animal hospital thanked owners who got their pets vaccinated, and it thanked clients who might have had to wait a few extra minutes on the busiest days. “We appreciate it, and JCAPL appreciates it,” Bagley said. “JCAPL will continue to do wonderful things in our community with these additional funds.”
Clayton Animal Hospital is a privately-owned veterinary practice. It opened in 1986.
