Music for lunch
This summer’s “Music for the Lunch Bunch” series continues at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. Violinists Rachel Harmatuk Pino and Elizabeth Ivy will perform.
Harmatuk Pino is the principal second violinist for the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and executive director of the Trent River Chamber Players in New Bern. She has played with a number of bands, including The Association, The Moody Blues and The Tams.
Ivy is a freelance musician, performing with the Long Bay Symphony and the Trent River Chamber Players.

Grants for nonprofits
Through Aug. 15, the Johnston County Arts Council is accepting applications for grass-roots grants from the N.C. Arts Council.

The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield welcomes new members to its daytime book club. Meetings are at 12:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Johnston Chorale seeking voices
The Johnston County Chorale welcomes new voices. Starting Aug. 26, rehearsals will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at First Baptist Church, 202 S. Fourth St., Smithfield.
