Here are July 4 celebrations in Johnston County:
The town’s annual Independence Day celebration is scheduled from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, in Municipal Park on Stallings Street. The event will offer free ice cream and watermelon, sack race, a water-balloon toss, egg-and-spoon race, music and games. The day will end with fireworks.
Here’s the schedule for the July 4 celebration in the Cleveland community:
Pancake breakfast – 7-9 a.m. at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road.
Parade lineup – 9 a.m. on Cleveland Fire Road.
Parade – 10 a.m., with awards ceremony to follow behind the Johnston Community College annex.
Community softball game – 1 p.m.
Street dance – 7-9 p.m.
Fireworks – 9:15 p.m.

The 10th annual All-American Festival is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, in downtown Selma. The event will feature a DJ, vendors and a children’s area. The fireworks start at 9:15 p.m.
The annual Friends of the 4th Celebration will take place Wednesday, July 3, along South Third Street. Starting at 6 p.m., The Main Event Band will play, and the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will offer activities and games.
