Alice was born to (Judge) L.H. Champion and Ada Elizabeth (Hinton) Champion, in Old Fort, NC.
The youngest of five children, Alice grew up in Clayton surrounded by family and friends. She always said that her teenage years in Clayton were the happiest of her life. In 1947 she married David B. Hullett, a career navy man, and they lived in many different areas of the country. He preceded Alice in death in 1970. Several years later she married Burt Hansen, and they moved to Rogue River, OR, again enjoying the small town life she missed so much when she left Clayton. After Burt’s death, Alice eventually moved to La Mesa, CA, to be near her daughter.
Survived by daughter Alice Elizabeth Nicholson (Gordon) of El Cajon, CA; son, David Champion Hullett (Jeanne) of Vermont; granddaughters, Stacy (David), Jennifer, and Rachel; great-grandchildren Bianca and Michael; her beloved sister-in-law, Sybil Champion; nephews Peter and John Champion; niece, Beverly Haney; and many beloved cousins and friends in the Clayton area.
We will always remember her smile and her generous heart.
