Johnston County residents can apply for Frances Finch Hobart Award

Published: March 16, 2013

The Johnston County Community Foundation wants nominations for the 2013 Frances Finch Hobart Award for voluntary community service. Butch Scott, president of the Johnston County Community Foundation says the foundation always presents this award to a Johnston County resident who is committed to community service. He says the service helps strengthen the community.

Scott says the foundation wants someone who is able to help others solve social problems and is willing to use his or her time, talent and energy to solve problems. Nominees should be someone who is already volunteering in the community and working on social issues.

The recipient is also expected to select a local non-profit organization that will receive a grant of $750 from the Frances Finch Hobart Award for Voluntary Community Service Fund.

Nomination forms can be found at nccommunityfoundation.org. The application deadline is April 26. Send completed forms to Johnston County Community Foundation, P. O. Box 309, Four Oaks, NC 27524, Attn: Wanda Blow.
