Clayton art and music festival set for June

Published: March 12, 2013

Millstock, Clayton’s summer art and music festival, returns to downtown Horne Square 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 1 at the corner of Main and Lombard streets.

Area artists can sell and exhibit their work at the Saturday event. Organizers want original paintings, graphics, printmaking, drawings, photographs, sculptures, ceramics, glass, fiber, jewelry, woodworking, mixed media and other art forms. The application deadline is May 24 for booths, which cost $40.

Millstock is also featuring musical acts, and Flipside restaurant plans a concurrent program of Millstock music by local bands. Chalk It Up, a sidewalk chalk art contest for youngsters and adults, will also be back.

A free children’s booth is planned where youngsters can make their own art—paintings or collages—and take it home.

Artist/jewelry-designer John McFadden of Clayton Visual Arts, Inc., will head the event for the third year.

A brochure/application form is available at claytonvisualartsnc.org, or email claytonvisualarts@rocketmail.com.

Millstock is sponsored by the Johnston County Visitors’ Bureau and Johnston County Arts Council.
