The town of Clayton bills itself as a great place for active families.

Now one Clayton neighborhood is putting that claim to a vote. The Riverwood community has made it to the final round of an online vote for the title of Best Neighborhood to Raise Kids.

Voters can log on to greatplacesnc.org to register and vote in the People’s Choice contest.

Riverwood is facing a challenge from other communities throughout the state including Charlotte’s First Ward and Plaza Midwood, Belmont’s downtown and Black Mountain’s Lake Tomahawk.

As of Friday, Riverwood is trailing in the online vote and community boosters are encouraging residents to go online to cast their vote.

The contest is sponsored by the American Planning Association.
