The Johnston County Arts Council is preparing to host its annual Arts and Food Festival gala at 6:30 p.m. March 1 at the Johnston County Agricultural Auditorium.
The council uses this fundraiser to generate funds for the 2013 Artists-in-the-Schools program which provides scholarships for Johnston Community College fine arts students.
Tickets cost $40 each or two for $75 and attendees can sample dishes from local restaurants and vote for ‘People’s Choice Award’ of Best Restaurant. Participating restaurants are vying for Best Presentation, Best Entrée and Best Dessert.
The results of the Johnston County Arts Council juried art show featuring more than 30 local artists will also be announced at the festival. Local artwork is on display and available for purchase from Johnston County’s most talented visual artists.
A silent auction featuring a collaborative painting of the Neuse River Bridge painted by JCAC board members will be one of the highlights of the evening.
