Corinth area youth sports sign-ups
Corinth Community Recreation Pirates will hold registration for youth baseball, softball and T-Ball from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays through Feb. 16 in the Corinth-Holders Elementary School gym lobby. T-Ball is for ages 5-6 and is $40 per player or $35 for each sibling. Baseball and softball is for ages 7 and up and costs $60 for the first child or $50 for siblings. Johnston Sports Council needs at large rep
The Johnston County Sports Council is currently seeking applicants for an at-large representative engaged in sports tournaments, sports organizations, sports promotion or facilities development located in Johnston County. The mission of the Sports Council is to bring together Parks & Recreation Departments and county-wide sports organizations to attract a wide range of sports tournaments and events to Johnston County, market the county as a leisure sports destination, as well as, provide services to promote area visitor-related businesses. Appointments are for three-year terms. Each member of the Committee serves until his successor is duly appointed and terms shall be effective Jan. 1 of each year. The regular meetings of the Committee are held at the offices of the Johnston County Visitors Bureau on the third Wednesday of each odd numbered month at noon for the purpose of any business. Applications are due to the Johnston County Visitors Bureau by Feb. 1 and can either be picked up at their office or downloaded online at johnstoncountync.org/sportscouncil. Archer Lodge announces youth baseball leagues
The Archer Lodge Community Center will offer spring T-Ball, coach-pitch and baseball leagues beginning in April. T-Ball for ages 4-5 will be held on Saturday mornings and costs $40 per player. The focus is on the basics of the game and sportsmanship. There will be seven players per team. T-Ball for ages 5-6 will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. and Saturday mornings. The program expands on hitting, throwing and catching techniques but remains strictly hitting off of the tee. There will be as many as 10 players per team. The cost is $40 per player. Coach-pitch is for ages 7-8 and will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. and Saturday mornings. There will be as many as 12 players per teams and features parent volunteers for umpires. The cost is $50 per player. Baseball (with kids pitching) for ages 9-10 will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. and Saturday mornings or early afternoons. Hurricane Junior Golf Tour events in area
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will hold a pair of regional events in the Triangle this spring. Tournaments are scheduled for March 2-3 at Lochmere in Cary and April 27-28 at the Lonnie Poole Course on the N.C. State campus.
