Wake Electric offers scholarships for basketball camps

Wake Electric is accepting applications from middle-school students for scholarships to summer basketball camps on two of the state’s largest campuses.

Wake Electric is providing all-expenses paid scholarships for one middle school girl to attend the Kellie Harper Basketball Camp at N.C. State University and one middle school boy to attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at UNC-Chapel Hill this summer.

The Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp is June 15-19 and the Kellie Harper Wolfpack Basketball Academy is Aug. 1-4. Applications are due by March 29, according to company spokeswoman, Suzanne Ward.

Wake, Durham, Johnston, Vance, Granville, Nash or Franklin counties sixth, seventh and eighth grade student are eligible to compete for the two scholarships.

More than 50 students across the state will attend basketball camps this summer through the Touchstone Energy Sports Camp program.
