Johnston County will collect household hazardous waste

Johnston County residents have a chance to get rid of household hazardous waste. The Johnston County Public Utilities Department and Solid Waste Division, the Johnston County Sherriff’s Office, the NCDA Cooperative Extension and the NCDA&CS Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program will collect waste 8 a.m.-1 p.m. March 2. The event is at the Johnston County Livestock Arena, 520 County Home Road, Smithfield next to the Johnston County Landfill.

Residents can also dispose of household pharmaceuticals and agricultural pesticides and herbicides.
