Confined in Johnston County jail under $3,000 bond.
• Jan. 8, 2:03 a.m. Jeffrey Andrew Smith, 50, of 308 Mountain Ridge Ct., charged with misdemeanor DWI, speeding, and open container; confined in Johnston County jail under $1,000 bond.
• Jan. 6, Laura Leigh Nelson, 40, 220 Haywood Ln., charged with misdemeanor simple assault; not confined.
• Jan. 6, 8:32 a.m. Cedric William Shepherd, 720 Commodore Street, 42, charged with simple worthless check; confined in Johnston County jail under $500 bond.

• Jan. 10, 12:11 p.m. a woman reported someone broke into her car and stole a $200 GPS device and a $2,000 Macbook Pro. Case inactive.
• Jan. 9, 1:18 p.m. an 81-year-old woman reported someone stole items from her while she was shopping at Wal-Mart. Someone stole a Bank of America card worth $100, a $1,000 Coastal Federal Credit Union Card, a $50 cell phone, and $35 cash. Case under investigation.
• Jan. 9, 5:21 p.m. a woman reported someone struck her with their fist and caused minor injuries. Case inactive.
• Jan. 9, 11:57 a.m. an employee at Wal-Mart reported someone tried to steal items from the store. Case inactive.
