MLK holiday events

The Johnston County Branch NAACP will host a prayer breakfast in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Jan.19. The 8 a.m. breakfast is at South Smithfield Elementary School, 201 W. The Partnership for Children of Johnston County is holding its annual Clayton Steakhouse fundraiser Feb. 4 at the Clayton Steakhouse, 307 E. Main St. in downtown Clayton. •  The Democratic Women of Johnston County will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 218 S. Second St., Smithfield. This meeting will include a review of volunteer activities from 2012 and plans for organizing volunteers in 2014.
