Gresham becomes CPA
Julia Gresham of Clayton is among the most recent applicants in North Carolina approved for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant.
To meet the state requirements Gresham had to pass a written exam, meet the education requirements and demonstrate the licensure board’s moral character requirements.
New clinic opens
MinuteClinic recently opened a walk-in medical clinic inside the CVS/pharmacy store at 11911 U.S. Highway 70 Business W. MinuteClinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for many common family illnesses.

Eye of the Eagle Art adds new art instructor
Award winning artist Lin Frye is now an art instructor at the Eye of the Eagle Art Center.
Frye is a watercolorist who has taught classes at Johnston Community College, Center for Math and Science Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. Department of Environmental Education, and throughout South Carolina, College of Charleston, various parks and museums.
Frye will instruct a beginning watercolor basics workshop at the center.
COPC, Inc. adds partner
David R. Sickles, the Chief Operations Officer for Center for Orthotic & Prosthetic Care, Inc. is now an equal partner at COPC, Inc.
COPC owns and operates the Duke University Medical Center’s department for orthotics and prosthetics, and has branch offices in Clayton, Durham, Raleigh and New York.
Sickles will be responsible for patient care, company growth, efficiencies of systems, oversee management of more than 40 employees, and further development and expansion of COPC’s services throughout North Carolina and New York.
Before he joined COPC, Sickles was President and CEO for Creative Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc. in Elmira, N.Y. Sickles founded the company in 1985 and was instrumental in that firm’s growth from two employees in one office to 70 employees in 10 locations throughout central New York state.
A graduate of Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y., Sickles completed his postgraduate studies in prosthetics at New York University. He was certified in prosthetics by the American Board for Certification in 1981, certified in Orthotics in 2003, and Pedorthics in 1994. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and the International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics. Sickles is also the President for the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.
