Teen held in thefts, arson

CLAYTON -- Clayton police have charged a Johnston County teenager in a series of thefts from unlocked cars.

Connor Scott Neas, 17, of Cabin Branch Road, Clayton, faces 14 felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle. He has also been charged with nine counts of misdemeanor larceny, one count of felony larceny and one felony count of financial-card theft.

Police said the thief walked through a subdivision in October and stole items from unlocked vehicles. The thefts occurred between Oct. 8 and Oct. 23.

Neas was already in jail when the most-recent charges were filed. On Nov. 16, Neas and his brother Alexander Neas, 22, were charged with second-degree arson.

Tammy Amaon, spokeswoman for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, said Neas and his brother are suspected in the November burning of a camper and vacant house on Dairy Road.

The brothers remain in the Johnston County jail. Connor Neas’ bond is $315,000. Alexander’s Neas’ bond is $100,000.
