Food, clothing pantries

•  Everett Chapel Church, 307 Everett Ave., Clayton, is donating used clothing to needy families. The church is also accepting clean, gently-used items. For information, call 919-553-5236.

•  Powhatan Original Free Will Baptist Church will light its “Tree of Hope” at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at 3468 Powhatan Road, Clayton. The tree-lighting ceremony honors the late Vicky Thorne Bagley and is a fundraiser for Relay for Life. Ornaments are $5 each. •  Amelia Christian Church, 1696 Amelia Church Road, Clayton, is selling Christmas trees from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday.

Church activities

•  Wilson’s Mills Christian Church will hold a candle-lighting ceremony for National Children’s Memorial Day. The ceremony is at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at 179 Fire Department Road, Wilson’s Mills. •  West Clayton Church of God recently donated its campus at 1008 S. Lombard St. to Wellspring Community Church after West Clayton bought Wellspring’s campus at 143 Short Johnson Road.

•  The Rochesters, a gospel music group from Blacksburg, S.C., will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Friendship Baptist Church on Greenleaf Road a half-mile south of McGee’s Crossroads. Admission is free; the church will collect an offering for the group.

Bible study

•  Sisters Sharing the Savior are studying the books of Ruth, Esther and Proverbs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through April at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. For more information, call 919-697-1214.
