Food, clothing pantries

•  The Real Ministry of Zebulon will serve a free Thanksgiving Day meal 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Nationwide Insurance Agency, 612 East Lee St., Smithfield. They are also donating clothing, hats and gloves. Contact Eugene and Karen Durant, 919-359-1645.

•  A Touch From Above Faith Center food pantry is open Mondays 6-7 p.m. at 654 Main St., Wilson Mills. Needy families can sign up for free toys at the center 6-7 p.m. Nov. 26. Call 919-938-0073, ext. 2.

•  Christ Community United Methodist Church’s “Feed My Sheep” food pantry is open the second Saturday of the month 9 a.m.-noon at 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. For information call 919-553-9770 or claytonccumc.org.

•  Everett Chapel Church, 307 Everett Ave., Clayton, is donating used clothing to needy families. The church is also accepting clean, gently-used items. For more information, call 919-553-5236.

Fundraisers

•  Powhatan Original Free Will Baptist Church lights the “Tree of Hope” beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at 3468 Powhatan Road, Clayton. The tree-lighting ceremony honors the late Vicky Thorne Bagley and is a fundraiser for the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Ornaments are $5 each. •  Amelia Christian Church 1696 Amelia Church Road, Clayton is selling Christmas trees 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday - Friday, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

The Christmas bazaar, bake sale and Classic Car Cruise-in is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Amelie Christian Church.

Church activities

•  Wilson’s Mills Christian Church will hosts a candle lighting ceremony in honor of Worldwide Candle Lighting events for National Children’s Memorial Day. The ceremony is 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at 179 F ire Department. Road, Wilson’s Mills. This is an observance to remember children who have passed away. Bible study

•  Sisters Sharing the Savior are studying the books of Ruth, Esther and Proverbs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through April at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. For more information, call 919-697-1214.
