Fundraisers

Powhatan Original Free Will Baptist Church lights the “Tree of Hope” beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at 3468 Powhatan Road, Clayton. The tree lighting ceremony honors the late Vicky Thorne Bagley and is a fundraiser for the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Bagley loss her battle with breast cancer in 1999. Food, clothing pantries

•  The Real Ministry of Zebulon will serve a free Thanksgiving Day meal 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Nationwide Insurance Agency, 612 East Lee St., Smithfield. They are also giving out clothing, hats and gloves. Contact Eugene and Karen Durant, 919-359-1645.

•  A Touch From Above Faith Center food pantry is open Mondays 6-7 p.m. at 654 Main St., Wilson Mills.

•  Christ Community United Methodist Church’s “Feed My Sheep” food pantry is open the second Saturday of the month 9 a.m.-noon at 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. For information call 919-553-9770 or claytonccumc.org.
