Local writer wins fiction award

Beth Browne of Clayton, won first place in the short fiction category of the 2012 Carrie McCray Memorial Literary Awards. The award is from the South Carolina Writers’ Workshop.

Browne lives and works on a farm in Cleveland Township that has been in her family for more than 100 years. Her story, “Seeking Level,” will be published in the 2012 Petigru Review, which will debut at the writer’s conference in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at the awards dinner Oct. 19.
