Concerts

•  Clayton Town Square Concert Series concert dates are the third Thursday of the month from 7-9 p.m. on the Town Square at 100 W. Main St.

Market open

The Clayton Farm & Community Market is open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays on the Town Square at Main and O’Neill streets.

•  Johnston Community College offers free business seminars and counseling at the Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive in Clayton. •  The Clayton Parks and Recreation After-School program for kids in grades K-5 operates Monday-Friday from school dismissal to 6 p.m. Call Wanda Tetterton at 919-553-1550 for information.

•  After school art classes begin Sept. 18 for kids 5-7 years old; Sept. 19 for kids 8-10 years old; and Sept. 20 for kids 11-13 years old. These six-week classes are 4:30-6 p.m. at the Clayton Community Center. Call 919-553-1550.

•  Carl Williams (DVM, DACVPM), North Carolina Public Health State Veterinarian, will conduct a rabies in-service at Johnston County Public Health Department. The date will be announced. Call 919-989-5200.

•  The Clayton Area Toastmasters meet from 6-7 p.m. Thursdays at the Workforce Development Center at 135 Bestwood Drive. The group is dedicated to helping people improve their communication and leadership skills. Call Anthony Allen at 919-585-2098 or visit claytontm.com.

•  Melody’s Booksellers and Coffee Shop is presenting a solo exhibition of art by Jane Kate Brown, “An Artist’s Journey.” This exhibit runs through September. There’s a reception at 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 22 for coffee with the Artists at 117 N. Third St. in Clayton. Call 919-938-1511.

Coats family reunion picnic

Descendants of Amos “Babe” and Lenora “Nora” Wood Coats will have a family reunion and picnic Sept. 30 at Clemmons Educational State Forest on Old Highway U. S. 70. A picnic under the pavilion begins at 12:30 p.m.

•  The Widowed Persons Organization of Clayton meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at Rainbow Lanes Family Fun Center in Clayton. Call 919-616-5131 or 919-772-7086.
