Clayton native 1SG Greg Mayo recently returned from a year-long deployment in Iraq. The 1988 graduate of Clayton High School is currently serving at Fort Hood Texas as 1st Sergeant for Delta Company, 1-229th Combat Aviation Brigade. During his recent deployment, Mayo earned the Bronze Star for exceptionally meritorious service in a combat zone with exposure to risk of hostile action during Operation New Dawn.
