KIDS IN CLAY

Children, ages 5-8, will learn basic hand building techniques like pinch pots, coils and slab projects. They will create fun and functional items that they will glaze, take home and use. An emphasis on creative expression will be encouraged. Fridays (2/24-3/30)- 4-5:15 p.m.; Ages 5-8; $40 resident, $55 non-resident, six-week class; Instructor is Lynn Kurisko.

PARENT/CHILD POTTERY

Spend some quality time with your child while creating FUNctional items! Students will learn a variety of methods including coil-building, pinch pots, slab work and glazing to create flower pots, trays and wall pockets. Pieces will be finished with basic glazing techniques and fired to a lasting, durable and safe item for everyday use. No experience necessary. Saturdays (2/25-3/31) - 10:15-11:45a.m.; Ages 5+ accompanied by adult; $55 resident, $70 non-resident, six-week class; Instructor is Lynn Kurisko.

TWEENS POTTERY

This class is designed for the tween age group who want to learn about the various ways to create with clay. This eight-week session will explore hand-building techniques, decorating and glazing, and an introduction to wheel for those who have always want to try it. Students will be able to continue on with the wheel or explore additional hand-building ideas. Mondays (2/20-4/9) or Tuesdays (2/21-4/10) from 4:30-6 p.m.; Ages 9-12; $65 resident, $80 non-resident, eight-week class; Instructor is Lynn Kurisko.

TEEN WHEEL

A pottery class designed specifically for 13-17 year olds looking for something exciting to do after school or during the summer! In this six-week course they will learn the skills it takes to create functional bowls, cups and plates on the potter’s wheel. Be prepared to get dirty (all washable) and have fun on the wheel. Final class will be devoted to glazing your work for durable, food safe use! Stop by the studio prior to registration if you’d like to take a look at the studio and see what other beginners have accomplished! All supplies are provided. Thursdays (2/9-3/15) - 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Ages: 13-17; $60/resident, $75/non-resident, Instructor is Julie Rowe.

BEGINNING WHEEL

Wheel thrown pottery is a great chance to play in the mud! A combined class of demonstrations and individualized instruction will teach the basics skills such as wedging, centering the clay, throwing a cylinder, attaching handles, trimming and glazing techniques to create a variety of vessels. If this is something you always wanted to do, this is your class. No experience is required. Wednesdays (2/22-4/11) 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or 6-8:45 p.m.; Ages: 16 & up; $85 resident, $100 non-resident, eight- week class. Additional $15 fee for clay; Instructor is Julie Rowe.
