Wakefield High School in Raleigh earned the title of Grand Champion at the 24th Annual Clayton Band Classic on Saturday at Clayton High School.

Beddingfield High School in Wilson was the winner of the Pride of Clayton Award, while Tarboro High School earned the People's Choice Award.

The field of competition included 17 marching bands from the eastern part of North Carolina.

Southern Nash won the overall title in Class A, Garner took the Class AA crown, East Carteret won Class AAA and Wakefield captured the Class AAAA title.

Awards, by classification, are listed as follows:

Class A

General Excellence: Corinth Holders first, Tarboro second, South Granville third.

Class AA

General Excellence: Garner first, Roanoke Rapids second, Wilson Fike third.

Class AAA

General Excellence: Cleveland first, East Carteret second.

Class AAAA

General Excellence: Wakefield first, Smithfield-Selma second, West Johnston third.
